Home Network Design

Homework for you before coming to tutorial class

  • Present your home network settings with the following information.
1) The diagram to illustrate your home network. Your should include the following components:
Computers, NIC, wireless adapter, wireless access point, modem, router, etc.
2) For each of your network devices and componets, find the following information
hostname, physical address, IP address
3) Find the IP address of the following server
DHCP server, DNS server, WINS server, default gateway
  • Install XAMPP (or other web server if you like) onto your PC and make it accessible from the Internet.
(Tips: If you want to test if the outside world can access your web server, try to visit http://ipinfo.info/netrenderer/index.php.)
