Activity 1: Find out who owns that domain

Use any WHOIS services on the Internet to find the registrant that owns the following domains
- ouhk.edu.hk
- findaway.hk
- stepwise.hk
- (other domain you are interested)
Some WHOIS services: http://whois.domaintools.com/ - http://www.whois-search.com/ - https://www.hkirc.hk/whois/whois.jsp

(Q1) Who are the administrative person and technical person for the internet domain of OUHK (ouhk.edu.hk)?

Activity 2: Find out who hosts that website

Who Is Hosting This? - Enter a website address and this tool will return name of the web host provider that's hosting that website.

Netcraft Web Server Query - Type a website URL and Netcraft will tell you the site's operating system, web server, and a graphical view of the time since last reboot for each of the computers serving the site.

Go to http://www.whoishostingthis.com/ or http://uptime.netcraft.com/up/graph
Find out who hosts some websites that you are interested.

(Q2) About the website stepwise.hk, where is the Web server hosting?

(Q3) When you find that some websites are hosting by some ISP such as PCCW or City Telecom, it may imply that those websites are hosting in owners' home computer. List one of such websites?

For example, I found cccmkc.edu.hk is hosted by City Telecom (H.K.) Ltd.

Activity 3: Find out all the websites that are hosted in the same server.

Go to one of the following websites:

http://www.ipneighbour.com/

http://www.yougetsignal.com/tools/web-sites-on-web-server/

http://www.domaintools.com/reverse-ip/

Give a domain/website that you are interested in.
Find out how many websites that are hosted in the same server.

(Q4) How many websites there are that are hosting in the same server with homesmart.hk?

Activity 4: Web server-side scripting

For each of the following server-side scripting language, find any one website that use them.

(Q5) PHP (the URL of the web page may end with .php)
(Q6) Java (the URL of the web page may end with .jsp)
(Q7) ASP, ASPX (the URL of the web page may end with .asp or .aspx)
(Q8) Code Fusion (the URL of the web page may end with .cfm)

Activity 5: Server-side program

Visit Eliza and ‘talk’ to her about any topic you want, at http://www-ai.ijs.si/eliza/eliza.html
View the HTML code behind the webpage.
Can you identify the Web address of the server-side script that runs behind Eliza?
What inputs are passed to this script? (Hint: the inputs can all be found in the form.)

(Q9) State the URL of the server-side script that runs behind the web page.

Activity 6: Evaluate a website

Use search engine to find an accounting firm in Hong Kong.
Use the Website evaluation checklist given to you in class to evaluate the website you choose.
Spend around 20 minutes filling out the checklist.
